Sixty-six staffers at Warner Bros. Animation and 22 at Cartoon Network filed a petition for a union election with the National Labor Relations Board on Wednesday and simultaneously requested voluntary recognition from management at the Warner Bros. Discovery subsidiaries. Collectively, the group includes workers in roles like production manager, digital production assistant, IT technician, production coordinator, production assistant, design production coordinator, assistant production manager and senior assistant production manager.

The effort was announced on a joint Zoom call around noon on Wednesday with production workers at the Warner Bros. Discovery brands and TAG members. The staffers involved work on an array of shows, including Warner Bros. Animation’s Batman: The Caped CrusaderHarley Quinn and Teen Titans Go! and Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time: Fionna and CakeWe Baby Bears and Craig of the Creek.

“Although many might not think it, production is a specialized skill; we might not be artists or writers, but what we bring to the table goes beyond traditional creativity and gets content on the air,” Warner Bros. Animation production manager Hannah Ferenc said in a statement about the organization effort. “Having lived through the existing state of the animation industry for the past seven years, I want to make sure that not only our current workers, but all those who choose to join us in the future, can feel secure in following their passion by earning livable wages and being treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.”

there might be a slim chance the oppenheimer movie does the justice and depicts the manhattan project, American military, and the people who said yes to the bomb (Truman et al) as the monsters they are but i’m not holding my breath. it’s going to be a mostly aggrandizing affair with a little lip service to the horrors of using an atomic bomb in a civilian target. my guess is they’re gonna depict oppenheimer as “lied to” about how the bomb would be used and thats where the guilt comes from

it’s a horrible fucking thing and i fear this movie will do little to educate the public on how unnecessary it was to make and use the bomb. the astroturfed “barbenheimer” campaign is pretty disgusting. you’re gonna have a bunch of film bros creaming themselves over the soundtrack and the bomb animation sequences but if you ask them anything about the historical context it’ll be like talking to a shoe box

L take 🧊 Oppenheimer is based on “American Prometheus”, a Pulitzer winner by the BEST historian, Marty Sherwin. Marty ass-blasted Truman and the military 24/7 and was among the first to argue against the bomb’s necessity in Japan’s surrender.

why is this your only post and did you read the first sentence or what

I absolutely think Zuko was drawn to how much Katara cared about her mother because when his own mother went missing, no one cared or wanted to talk about it. Seeing Katara cry for her own mother openly, seeing Katara angry about her mother’s murder, hearing her talk about it, accompanying her on that journey, forcing the man responsible to talk about it, must have been so healing for him.

image

Yes and this is so essential to Zuko as a character. Like, he goes through life being told that his feelings are wrong and the only person who once validated his feelings is his mother who disappears without a trace. Neither Ozai nor Azula will mourn Ursa. They have their own feelings about what happened but Ozai refuses to say anything and Azula only acts like it’s another victory she’s won against him.

But then in the caves Zuko sees Katara openly mourn her own mother, and I think something in him that so desperately needed to acknowledge that hurt wanted to reach out to her and say “me too, this happened to me too, and I’m sad about it too.” And Katara tells him it’s okay to be sad. And with that there’s that whole can of worms of “What if my father was wrong? If he’s wrong about this, could he be wrong about other things? Could he be wrong about me?” And then Katara tells him it’s okay to be sad about the other things, that it’s okay to be hurt about what his father did to him and it’s okay to want to be free of that hurt by offering to heal his scar. It’s not the healing itself that Zuko needed, it’s the acknowledgement that he was hurt.

Which in turn is why Zuko understands Katara’s need to confront her own hurt in TSR. It’s not necessarily about providing a solution, it’s about acknowledging that it’s okay to feel that pain.

Tumblr really has ruined me. I was in a Rite-Aid and “out of touch” came on over the speakers, and I freaked out a bit because I thought I had missed my thursday morning meeting. It took me a minute before I remembered that Out of Touch playing does not always mean its thursday. sometimes people just play the song.
